    • Kevin Villafan “Springfield Illinois” ——————— “Springfield Oregon*”

    • in the episode ‘sweets and sour marge’ they plan to get sugar from south of the border and homer says “from Tennessee?” meaning its most probably Kentucky

    • Alex Workman the episode called Behind the laughter. It referred to them as a northern Kentucky family but the repeats said southern Missouri. M.G is from Oregon and all the evidence from season 1-9 would indicate that is where it really is.

    • MrParkerman6 no I’m from New Zealand and it said in season 11 (behind the laughter)they were a Northern Kentucky family. From what I read at the time the repeat episode said southern Missouri. But really Oregon is the most likely answer from the 1st 9 seasons. Where M.G is from. Quimby, lovejoy and Flanders are all streets in his home town

    • Zeebrase It is none of them Springfield is on the west coast (not Illinois) has state income tax (not Washington) and must be a short drive to San Francisco or Los Angeles since in S20E17 MyPods and Boomsticks a kid named Basheer came from Amman,Jordan and it must be from SFO or LAX since that in Oregon there are no airports that go to the destination neither Dubai,Karachi,Manila,Islamabad,Jeddah,Istanbul,Budapest,London,Toronto,São Paulo (not Oregon) so the only state left is California and not all scenes are true like in Bart on the Road Homer looks up all the Nuclear Reactors in the USA and there was no “Springfield” reactor on California and also that when they showed Springfield and the state it is in.

    • But Kentucky has no coast, Springfield does. The town just moves around America, as in different episodes it keeps on gaining characteristics that you may find in each. I like the idea of them physically moving the town, we’ve seen them do it a couple of times…just might as well say they keep doing it.

    • Not really, it keeps moving around America, several episodes keep putting in references to it being in different states. It is based on a town in Oregon as well as others, but isn’t necessarily set there.

  1. All I want is to know there be a second movie of The Simpsons, like it’s will be after the season 30, or something else?

  2. Homer once angrily said “Taxachusetts” I can’t remember if he was referring to his own state tho.

    • Lonelyontop shelbyville is a parody of eugene, springfields rival counterpart of oregon. Charactars names come from street names of portland. Buildings are designed after landmarks in portland. Groening attended universty in oregon and grew up in portland(?)

Springfield is in all of us… but the major elements of this fictional town are directly lifted from springfield oregon and its trashy poor reputation

  3. It’s a mix of Portland, Oregon and Springfield, Massachusetts. Google it up. I always thought it looked similar to Springfield, Massachusetts. Go there and you’ll see what I mean.
